The U18's are also the first female team to have the historic Cliff Training Ground as their home venue, and celebrated by recording a 5-0 win over Frodsham.

Manchester United started their first steps on the football ladder, joining the Cheshire and Manchester League U18's division, although only having 6weeks to get a squad together, they recorded their very first win over neighbours Altrincham which is termed as the "local derby".

Hopefully with the introduction of an U18's side, then open age plus establishing their Centre of Excellence from U10's thru to U16's, this gives the girls an incentive to develop and have parity with other clubs.

Women's Football / Re: The FA and the Superleague - comments, questions?
« on: August 03, 2009, 01:59:47 PM »
Knowing coaches at Man United, from what they tell me, there was never any suggestion that Man U would be getting involved in this, indeed why would they?? not having the personnel, just starting their centre of excellence teams and U18's team, the suggestion that they would "take-over" an existing womens team to play as "Man United" is questionable re-ethics? and if that was the case surely "the existing Team" would not be on the level as say the likes of Arsenal, Everton, and other top flight teams etc otherwise they be pushing for a place already wouldn't they? so what would be the point?

I hear depending on how the U18's develop, Man U will progress to open age but in the lower tiers and build from there.

Women's Football / U19'S LEAGUE

After the massive success by England U19's to become European Champions, don't you think now would be the ideal time to start regional U19's Leagues??

A fantastic achievement and great boost for the womens game, it'd also help those girls who are too old for the U16's but not confident enough for open age to progress.....
