The FA WSL / Fixture list - run in
« on: August 30, 2012, 09:03:33 AM »
Just looked at the Birmingham City's last SIX fixtures of the season, and they only have ONE game at home.
Do you think it is because of venue issues that the games/fixtures have been home heavy in the start of the season.. imagine any other league where a possible (pre-season) title contender would play 5 of their last 6 games away from home..
And then when you look earlier on in the season.. there's three home games in row in ten days..
In my humble opinion this isn't the greatest way to keep fans interested in the team all season long.. games come in a big bunch.. then we wait for six weeks for the next...
But.. as said, I don't know the in's and out's of this .. just thought to ask what others think about it.

The FA WSL / Weekend 24-25th March FA Cup!!
« on: March 22, 2012, 06:50:24 PM »
Starting another thread here for the coming weekend..

Doncaster vs Chelsea

Arsenal vs Everton

Birmingham vs Sunderland

Bristol vs Blackburn

Thoughts/Predictions/Comments/Videos/Pictures... let's see what we can come up with from these games.

I feel that there aren't any games that you could say that 'Team X' will win it comfortably.
All games might have favourites to win them.. and where as last week I was predicting there could have been four away wins (and we ended up with three??)
Then this week I am predicting that there could possibly be an All Home Win Weekend... (which probably means three home wins ;-))

Will write more thoughts later on.. but just thought to get the ball rolling with another weekend thread.

The FA WSL / Fixtures on 17th-18th March WSL 'Tyre Sponsor' Cup
« on: March 16, 2012, 10:05:22 AM »
As there isn't a HUGE amount of activity on most individual team boards - thought to start a 'Weekend Thread' to see if people would get talking more about games if comments/views/photos/videos is posted in a single thread for the weekend games...

This weekends games are :

Birmingham City Ladies FC v Everton Ladies FC

Doncaster Rovers Belles Ladies FC v Bristol Academy Women FC

Chelsea Ladies FC  v  Lincoln Ladies FC

Liverpool Ladies FC  v Arsenal Ladies FC

Pick of the bunch is probably down in Stratford with Birmingham taking on Everton, should be a good match-up and winner is hard to predict in this one.
Blues of course have Rachel Unitt from Everton for this season.. so maybe something to show from both sides :-)
Rachel Williams will be back for Blues as well.. interesting to see how her and Aluko work together up front.
It is early doors in the season, so tough to say what shape either of the teams are..
Will Everton come to defend and look to win it with a fast break?? One thing is for sure, there are goals in teh Birmingham team this season !

Other Forum members are probably better at telling about the three other games..

Lincoln and Arsenal could be looking at away wins in this weekend.. as will Bristol (and four away wins might not be out of question either).

European Women's Football / Finland at Cyprus Cup 2012
« on: February 16, 2012, 06:38:26 PM »
For years I have been looking forward to my annual trip to Portugal and Algarve Cup with Team Finland...
And where am I going this February.. to Cyprus.. yes, Finland have chosen to pit their skills against the teams at teh Cyprus Cup instead of the Algarve Cup.
To be fair, the team hasn't exactly been winning games in Portugal, so maybe a change of scenery to Cyprus will help?
Tough opposition with England and France in the same group... should be good fun... I'll try to tweet and post some stuff from Cyprus while there...

The FA WSL / Blues pre-season video interviews (part1)
« on: February 16, 2012, 06:35:20 PM »
With the season approaching.. somehow remembered to come over here as well.
Once again I'll be traveling with the Blues around WSL (and Champions League) this summer, and have managed to be at couple of training sessions already.

Last night took the chance and interviewed Jade Moore and Rachel Unitt before the training started.. and took few clips from the training as well.

So - for those interested.. here's a link to the video!

The FA WSL / FA WSL website
« on: May 12, 2011, 09:09:03 AM »
I know doesn't directly relate to the game - but just thought to mention it.
The FA WSL official site does not display properly on Safari browser on Mac..
For ANY league's official site - you would think that they test it on all platforms and all browsers..
Or maybe it is just my Mac that does not show it properly.. if there's anyone else out there with a Mac and browsing with Safari.. have a look and let me know.
(it does work OK on Firefox.. but why should I swap browsers just to view that one site... not good....)

Birmingham City vs Liverpool
Top vs Bottom of the is always dangerous to say, but you can only really see one outcome in this game

Bristol vs Arsenal
Bristol haven't lost at home so far - could they give Arsenal their second defeat of the season??

Doncaster vs Everton
Everton still without a win in this years WSL - can they get one before the break?

Lincoln vs Chelsea
Chelsea managed to sneak a point on the 'beach' from Birmingham City. Lincoln have only scored twice this season...

The FA WSL / Big Game of the week : Arsenal vs Birmingham
« on: April 27, 2011, 11:21:24 AM »
I thought to open a thread for this game - with so few games in the season, no-one can afford to 'slip-up'
With the Blues starting the season strongly, and still to concede a goal in their three games... and now traveling to the Arsenal.
Arsenal of course have been there at the top of the game for a while - but can the Blues turn the tables and win at Arsenal....

I will be traveling to the game on Wednesday - so will be putting pictures, etc up from the game on tomorrow evening...

Any opinions/predictions of the game...????

The FA WSL / Birmingham City - Barnet (FA Cup)
« on: March 14, 2011, 10:15:21 AM »
Had a nice afternoon photographing the game yesterday at Stratford - finally a soccer league that plays during the summer !!
About the game - I think Birmingham were controlling the first half and kept on rolling the pressure towards Barnet goal - but only got the single goal to show for it.
Barnet snapped two goals early on in the second half - and despite Birmingham piling on huge amounts of pressure for the remainder of the game.. they couldn't get the second goal.
The Blues team did show a lot of potential - and I think it was a harsh start to the season with the FA Cup game being their first competitive match.
Looking fwd to the season starting and hopefully getting to do more of the games as the season goes on..
Here's a little linky to the images from the game - I have tried to name the players in them (only got Birmingham names/numbers) - if there are mistakes or I've missed players.. feel free to post of comment under the images :-)

Few photos from last nights game - got too dark very soon.. but managed to snap few photos before had to pack the cameras away..

First day of the season - and here are few photos from the Birmingham City's winning start to the new season.
Missed the last goal of the game - due to having to rush to the train (well, it is a 35-40 minute walk from the ground to station...)
But - here are few photos from this afternoon's match at Knight's Lane in Stratford-Upon-Avon

Link :

OH - and if anyone who was at the game reads this, if you happen to have the line-ups written down (with numbers) would appreciate that one  ;D
