at the moment the FA have their hands full with other matters

Girl's Centres of Excellence / Re: WSL restructure

"Girls will still be able to play football, be better if the money went into the situation for all rather than just those in rtcs.  It'd even be better for 90% of rtc players when they find WSL clubs don't want them."

yet another step towards equality with men's game; we have had fixture changes to accommodate tv, some less than convenient kick off times etc etc

The Euro 2017 Fantasy game was OK

Anyone fancy a similar version for WSL?

Would like to see a variation on the scoring to reward 100% accurate predictions

Result of game (home, away, draw) - 1 point

Home team score correct (regardless of opponents score) - 1 point

Away team score correct (regardless of opponents score) - 1 point

Goal difference correct (example 1-0 home win prediction for a 2-1 actual home win) - 1 point

Get the correct score - i.e. all 4 of above are correct and earn 1 bonus point (bit like additional points for hat trick scorer), so worth 5 points in total for the game in question

given that "new" signings are only recently being revealed, despite transfer deadline being a week ago, I suggest starting after this weekend's round of fixtures when hopefully all squads are public knowledge etc

can run two separate competitions - one for WSL 1 and another for WSL 2

the social media mad world of women's football, not least WSL, seems conspicuous by its absence when it comes to pre-season friendlies, so nice to see coverage

games moved to accommodate TV coverage - on one hand this is a positive, on the other supporters need to know how close to a game such switches can be legitimately made so they can make travel arrangements with certainty that they are booking for the correct date and time

depends on how fit the player is and also medical advice - also the level of player is important - I would suggest 2018 would be a sensible return date for WSL 2 games; could be earlier if everything goes well and she plays 20-30 minutes in games, but situation is not unlike returning from long term injury

South Group 1 is very compact geographically compared to the other groups - would like to know if this was by the pure chance of the draw or not

well played everyone; think only time I was top of table was after yesterday's games - not going to attempt an "in-play" table

different category seat prices; await different category admission depending on opponents; further steps towards equality with men's game

Do not know if anyone else spotted the work of gremlins in fixtures released yesterday, but Yeovil vs Everton had a venue of Hetton Centre, but this has since been amended.

expect more of the same in the future - media demands on England will be greater and as has been seen at top level in men's game, managers and players have to give interviews, sometimes too soon after a game and given the track record of some sections of the media, you know only too well what to expect.

the conflicting "All publicity is good publicity" and "No news is good news" spring to mind. The Pandora's box of reporting of women's football appears to have been opened quite wide.

The FA WSL / 2017-18 Fixtures
« on: August 02, 2017, 07:13:36 PM »
Plenty of tweets saying fixtures being released tomorrow at 10.00a.m, but since a spell off the web, I return to discover that full fixtures now being released on Monday 7th August (10.00a.m.)

Interestingly it was clubs who were tweeting fixture release for tomorrow and not as far as I can tell FAWSL

Hope Powell did much to get the FA to invest in women's football, especially the Under-17, 18, 19, 21, 23 etc teams as previously it was full international set up only.

Must admit I found her post-match press conferences very predictable - change the name of the opposition and hey presto, easy to write up

Mark Sampson may have his critics in some circles and also have certain themes which he mentions nearly every time, but it is very much chalk and cheese when you compare their interviews

eagerly awaiting table update; must admit terribly disappointed that there was no Portugal vs Norway fixture, would have been fun on Twitter, tv score caption etc

potential for a #DENNED or #NEDDEN final
