Are you related to "Elite Imp" ?

Yes, sadly Elite Imp forgot their password then realised they'd signed up with an old university e mail address they can't access any more!
Schoolboy/girl error?

How strange is that team ?

not only extremely strange, but extremely underhand too. Despite BUCS constantly saying that trials were being arranged, then they weren't, then they were, then defo no trials and the next thing we hear on FB people are attending trials... WTF???? see 4 players alone from leeds... didn't the GB manager gemma grainger used to manage leeds?

anyway, like i said, very underhand and a little sickening seeing as these games only come around bi-annually so it means some WPL players who were totally eligible will never have the opportunity to even trial to represent their country.

Government cuts loss of funding to host the trials? Just a thought..

The FA WSL / Re: Bignot hit with FA charge
« on: August 01, 2011, 08:31:51 PM »
http://www.thefa.com/Leagues/SuperLeague/NewsAndFeatures/2011/marcus-bignot-charged

BIRMINGHAM CITY football consultant Marcus Bignot was mired in scandal today after his team's night of shame at Lincoln.

The blues snatched a 1-1 draw from a nonsense penalty call. Then bungling ref Burridge sent-off Lincoln goal-scorer Little when Birmingham's Weston went over on her own ankle.

Bignot's alleged antics during the game will land the club in more hot water, with FA beaks set to throw the book at the ex-Football League journeyman.

In a sickening display of thuggery and immaturity, Blues players all over the pitch were acting as human wrecking-balls.

Meanwhile Bignot and his cronies were baying for blood from the sidelines.

But Scheuber eventually saw red as Lincoln kept their dignity and calmly faced down their foaming-mouthed opponents.

obviously a totally non-biased account from a losing sides supporter #justanobservation

Well the USA were far worse than us at penalties.. But Hope (less) we beat the now world champions twice.. Tactically naive and the only cowardice is your reluctance to stand by your obvious tactical mistakes.. I mean alter your back four completely when 1 nil up with 9 mins to go says it all.. Some people are born great others have greatness thrust upon them, which are you Hope? And be honest?

Seriously ? they had Gwen Harries in Belgrade two years ago if I remember well already a full international at the times.

Correct and they won bronze after losing out on penalties

Sadly not if you play in red and white stripes in the North West if I read between the lines correctly.

The same brush should not be used everywhere. Watching Crewe and Manchester United last year was a joy (every time they met) - both played out from the back and did it very well.
ha has Pullis brought his ethos to the girls set up too.. Pity she hasn't a long throw, she'd have been blown in (pardon the pun)

Hey

Dont blame faye white with the penalty she had the courage to step up shes a true captain, and as for the rest the Manager has made a few errors not only here but in the past.  Refusing to sub Kelly Smith when she obviously cant play her best, she gets frustrated as you can see but she is played over and over when she needs to rest.

Eni hasnt particularly been playing well in US or in WC but she can be a wonder girl at times so dont knock her either.  I think to ask Rafferty to take a penalty was a studpid idea she is inexperienced on these big occasions she played well during the match.  Powell has done all she can now and should move on.  A man would be good as Manager this time as long as she has no influence and gives him freedom to run the squad.

France were the better team, they maintained possession much better than England.  That is where better technical players need to be brought in.  All this defence ..defence needs to be equalled with attack attack!

I feel the girls worked really hard and did well and take heart  - even the Germans were eliminated .

ok will not mention the poor penalty miss by an obviously injured player who should have stepped aside, but will mention the missed header the incomplete clearance after (swipe and miss), that led to Frances equaliser
after todays revelations i wish to retract my statement in regard to Faye taking a penalty injured or not it was Hobsons choice for her as captain imho

Whispers that Liverpool are monitoring the progress of crocked Curzon Ashton centre-back Kellie-Ann Leyland.
Kellie has been named as a coach of some sorts at Curzon

I agree Aluko had a stinker but some of the criticism has been a bit harsh. On the comments section of the Guardian website they were calling her the female Emile Heskey! Presumably on the evidence of that one game. :(

It's hardly her fault she gets picked when better English strikers are at home twiddling their thumbs. Having said that, if Powell went with Rachel Williams or Dowie, we'd all be asking: "why is a novice with one cap carrying our world cup hopes?"

Another option would be to stick Kelly Smith at centre forward, push Jill Scott into the advanced midfield role and draft in Asante beside Williams.
Today Eni was on we were losing she goes off we win... Very simplistic I know but they are facts.. Oh and Yankey off as well proved positive..
