Title: Sad Ireland lose at home to Swiss
Post by: EliteImp on August 25, 2011, 07:05:40 PM
In their first match for 12 months, Ireland succumbed to a lame 1-0 loss to Switzerland at Richmond Park.

The Swiss, smashed 5-0 by Scotland last week, strolled through the game WITHOUT star Ramona Bachman.

Irish coach Susan Ronan, dubbed SuRo, now faces a grilling over tactics and selection.

Yank right-back Mary McDonnell has not played any club football for over a year, while too many others have been wasting their time in Ireland's hopeless domestic setup.

Out-of-form strike duo Fiona O'Sullivan and Aine O'Gorman again forgot their shooting boots.

Last night's debacle will hardly strike fear into the hearts of France, Wales and Scotland - Group 4 opponents in the Euro 13 qualifiers which start next month.

France fears no one in the group  :D but will do the homework and scout Ireland when they play Wales in Newport. Ireland is 31st at the FIFA ranking, they are unlikely to be feared. Scotland 23rd, Wales 47th Israel 60th. I would say the race for 2nd place in the group is very open.
I think that Wales v Ireland will be feisty and give us a good idea if improvement has been made over te recent years or not as well as the games against us.
