The race for third
« on: May 02, 2018, 05:11:16 PM »
With the season drawing to a close, there is a real battle on for third place. Although Chelsea and Man City are only 4 and 1 point ahead of Reading respectively, they both have at least 2 games in hand and I am going to make a bold prediction that they will finish as the top two.

Behind them, Reading are in third, with arsenal behind on goals difference, Birmingham 1 point behind and Liverpool a further point behind. Reading have played 1 more game than the other three.

Games left?...
Reading are at home to Liverpool and away to Birmingham
Arsenal are at home to Man City and away to Sunderland and Bristol City
Birmingham are away to Chelsea and Everton and home to Reading
Liverpool are home to Man City, away to Reading and home to Chelsea

So, how do you see it panning out for 3rd?

Liverpool have a horrible run-in and start from 6th, so I can’t see them doing it

Arsenal to win their two away games, but lose to Man City
Birmingham have three very tough games, with Everton being the most winnable looking game of the three
I think Reading will take Liverpool at home, but will start as second favourites at Birmingham

I think a lot could depend on that game at Birmingham. If Reading win, I think they will take 3rd. If not, I think Arsenal will pip Birmingham
If at first you don't succeed... cheat!
