The fun starts at 5pm with Denmark v Austria, semi-final in Breda - preview here by Katja Kragelund.

Then at 7.45pm Netherlands v England, a huge-ish match in the cauldron of Enschede - previewed by Emily Magee on Vavel.

All coverage is live on Channel 4 from 4.30pm.

Don't forget to salute throughout the game and preferably during the first game as well.

That place is fuller than the ground itself...

Kind of embarrassing to UEFA to have the ground half-full for the semi. Never mind that the teams are obscure. BBC comms have blamed the low crowds on the Dutch FA, but presumably someone required the hosts to try and make money (a hard task), when they should've been focusing on creating a good atmosphere.

Horrible injuries to Nicole Billa and Line Jensen so far.

Magnificent win from the hosts, fully deserved. By the way, to English fans joining us for the first time - half the Dutch team plays in England, so nobody has to feel too bad. Full minute-by-minute postmortem here.

Lol at Sampson bawling about only having 2 mins' injury time... Then 3 mins later, it's another Dutch goal :o

Shocking performance by England, totally outplayed.  If the FA think athleticism is what is missing I despair, that was wsl football all over, not worth watching.

Hardly different from the previous 3 performances, except for getting outplayed (and no Jill obv). I wonder how the Dutch players found them out...? ::)

I didn't like to say it before, but as coey has alluded to, grinding out a championship this way wouldn't have been much of a victory. It would've guaranteed the same tactics at the next World Cup but with less success. At least we might avoid that.

From what I've seen this is how RTCs play.   England will do ok going forwards because they will have good athletes and good organistion but I fear there will always be a handfull of teams with more class and creativity.

Well done the Dutch- played well against an underperforming England Team who looked tired and some had big match nerves. Samson should have had White off in the first half and Duggan on but he left it too late to be able to affect the result. He has a bit to learn yet if England are ever going to win a tournament.

What England lacked was fitness.

Meanwhile Aus smash Brazil 6-1 playing proactives posession based football, would rather my relos use the dual nat and play for them in the future.

Plus one, bham and Leicester are the prime culprits, Bristol play football.

Sorry I forgot to say, "Merry Christmas" :)

And you might even be getting another one very soon!

England women: 'We've come up short and I need time to reflect' says Mark Sampson
- www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40825045

He... He wouldn't, would he? Is he...? Does he...?

Quote
The Welshman will now spend time with his family before deciding what to do.

"At the moment there's probably doubt in everyone's mind about what they are going to do next," said Sampson, who has two years left on his contract.

OMG!

Then again, after the Netherlands defeat he said "I'll look at it all and then do a better job next time", in between yelling at the injury time board. So maybe we're all getting very worried over nothing. ;D

From Sampson's own perspective, it'd be silly to step down now - the FA love him, the players... well they seem to respect him. No obvious trouble in the camp, although the timing of Marieanne Spacey quitting was odd. The uninspiring football is the biggest problem, but I'm looking forward to how they'll (hopefully) experiment in the World Cup qualifiers. He's not the best, but he must know there's a style of play that could improve results (clue: it was on the pitch in orange kits).

And now the image gallery:

England win! Oh wait it's Denmark, I'm mixing up the colours.

Is women's football political?

And at Vienna Town Hall (same place as the packed public TV screening pictured above), the Austria team arrived home. They were given a heroines' welcome and some impractical glasses:

England gave 100% against the Dutchies but I think Mark now has a serious credibility problem. In any walk of life, if you give it 'the big I am' and then get horsed you're made to look like an utter fool. Surely this should be football management 101?!

Sampson has all the nous of a grassroots coach moving to 11 aside for the first time, kick it long to the fast player up front.
get rid of the rugby s&c coach, get rid of the rugby kick offs, get rid of the rugby kick into touch to gain ground.
Be a relief when Kelly smith gets experienced enough and can take over.
