Duggan at Barça
« on: July 07, 2017, 10:00:25 AM »
Once of Everton, then Manchester City, but now at Barcelona – Toni Duggan left Manchester in her transfer announced yesterday.

Do you think it's a good move for her?

The Liverpool-born striker will become the only member of the current England Women squad to be based abroad.

In total, she scored 31 goals in 74 appearances for Manchester City.

Her going overseas is surprising to me. But her leaving Manchester isn't – she wasn't given enough chances recently. She was unlikely to get a game while Carli Lloyd was around, and even when she did, Duggan scored a hat-trick against Bristol City and was benched for the FA Cup Final days later.

wtf? Of course she could play in the States if she wanted :) All this lot play pro...

Maybe she picked Spain wanting somewhere closer to home?

The Spanish league is an interesting one - not to the level of Germany/France yet, but it might get there in a few years.

@sbahnhof - I may be reading it wrong, but I thought coey was joking that the Americans might struggle with Toni's very thick scouse accent

Yes that's understood. It's the 'go to uni' part that doesn't make much sense.

Speaking of languages, do Barca's players all learn Catalan? Or just get an interpreter the whole time?
