Addicks out do Arsenal
« on: March 27, 2007, 07:52:08 PM »
The Charlton women's team has been named team of the round by the Football Association following the 1-0 semi-final victory over Blackburn Rovers.

The Addicks were selected ahead of cup holders Arsenal, who defeated Bristol Academy 2-0, to claim the award.

And with Charlton's reserves having beaten the Gunners to claim the Reserve League Cup on Sunday, Keith Boanas' players will be looking to make it a hat-trick by defeating unbeaten Arsenal in the league on Thursday night.

As part of their Team of the Round award in the FA Women's Cup, sponsored by E.ON, the Addicks receive a silver salver, £250 worth of equipment, plus a further £250 worth of kit to donate to a local school.

It was a goal from Natasha Dowie that secured victory over Blackburn, and ensured that Charlton would meet Arsenal in a re-run of last season's Premier League Cup final, which the Addicks won 2-1 in March 2006.

The FA Cup final takes place at Nottingham Forest's City Ground on Monday, May 7th (1pm) and, as a result, Charlton's away clash with Cardiff City, scheduled for two days earlier, has been postponed and will be rearranged.
