Drawn match after some great goals
« Reply #20 on: May 11, 2015, 05:51:08 PM »
Stabæk 2 Røa 2:  The televised match between Stabæk and Røa at Nadderud produced some brilliant entertainment for both the supporters and for neutral viewers.

There were spectacular goals and and a storm of chances for the home team.  The visitors started best and took the lead after six minutes with a cross from Synne Skinnes Hansen was put away by Vilde Hasund who plaed the ball through INgrid Hjemsleth's legs from short range.  Stabæk immediately started pressing for an equaliser, and it came after half an hour's play, when Cathrine Dekkerhus stretched out a foot to flick the ball into goal from within the crowd in front of Røa's goal.

But two minutes before half time Røa were able to celebrate again when captain Gunhild Herregården delivered a fantastic free kick from about 22 yards up into the corner of the net to take the half-time score to 1-2.

In the second half the Stabæk machine went into action and chance after chance was created but also misused, until the 66th minute.  Then the home team's Ingrid Schjelderup came up with a long shot that cannoned into the top corner of the net, again from about 22 yards near the corner of the box.

After the 2-2 goal it looked as if another Stabæk goal was only a matter of time, but they continued to miss their chances and did not have any more dream shots.  So a very entertaining match ended in a draw.

Ingrid Schjelderup was pleased with her own dream goal but not with the final result.  "Very disappointing.  We played a terrible first half and raised our game a lot in the second half, with masses of chances.  We couldn't sink them and the match was drawn", she told NRK.

Like the rest of the team she was frustrated that all the chances were wasted, and admitted it's something they are struggling with.  "Yes, we are.  I don't know what it is.  We can score in training but it needs to work in matches as well", she said.

Røa captain Herregården was none too pleased with the match after her team had conceded the lead twice, but she said a point against Stabæk is nothing to grumble about.  "When we lead and then don't manage to hold it, it's very disappointing.  But after all the chances Stabæk had we should be pleased with a draw", she told NRK.

Røa - LSK Kvinner 1-0
« Reply #21 on: May 13, 2015, 08:20:23 AM »
After six straight wins LSK's run came to an end on the Røabanen yesterday.  In a match that had many chances both ways, and shots on crossbar and posts for LSK, Røa's Synne Skinnes Hansen was the matchwinner with her goal after 23 minutes.

"It's a delight!  I went for a cross from Jodi-Ann (Robinson) and at first I didn't think I would get to it, but then I got a toe on it and it went through the keeper's legs, and it was so utterly brilliant to see it in the net", said Skinnes Hansen to fotball.no afterwards.  With that she became the first to put a ball past LSK's Gudbjörg Gunnarsdóttir this season.

The match ended 1-0 to the jubilation of Røa's players, support team and supporters.  "Again we ran many metres here today.  We were pressed right through the match but we worked really hard and I don't think they produced many big chances.  There was a shot on the crossbar and suchlike but it could have been worse and I think it was really good by us", said Skinnes Hansen.

"When we succeed with our match plan, as we did today, we are obviously very pleased.  We beat them away last year, so we did it again with the win here at home", said trainer Geir Nordby.

"It's disappointing.  We know we don't like to lose, so we must work to make it a rarity.  We must realise it's not just a matter of travelling round and gathering points.  It needs hard work.  But it would be wrong to say we thought this match would be easy.  We know what we are doing and Røa is a tough team to meet", said LSK trainer Monica Knudsen.

Geir Nordby thought that his team managed to push LSK out of the game at the start by going out strong, and he says the players learn a lot from a match like this.  "We did what we needed to do, we met Lillestrøm with aggression and a strong will, and we unsettled them a bit, I think.  And bringing in three points is very important", he said.

"The girls stood up very well today and have gained good experience.  We played against a team that keeps an internationally high level, and we take good things from the match into our future training", said Geir Nordby.

Røa signs player from Fortuna
« Reply #23 on: July 01, 2015, 02:28:46 PM »
Kristine Leine of Fortuna Ålesund has signed to play for Røa.  The 19-year-old has played several youth international matches for Norway and is at present in Sweden with the Under-19s for a training match this afternoon.  Røa's Vilde Hasund is also there.

Leine debuted for Fortuna as a 15-year-old and has already played 80 league matches in division-1.  Before that she played for Skodje, Spjelkavik and Vika.  She trained with Røa last winter for a week and impressed the trainers, and Geir Nordby is sure that she will be an important addition to all already exciting team.  "Kristine can play several roles in the the team and it will be exciting to find out her skills", said Nordby.

With the U19 European Cup coming up, Leine will probably not join Røa for a few weeks.

Røa-Sandviken 2-1
« Reply #24 on: July 20, 2015, 11:23:19 PM »
On their temporary home pitch Røa won the match on Sunday when Sandviken arrived on a visit, but the Bergen team took first blood with a 1-0 lead at half time.  The win takes Røa up to second place in the table but Avaldnsnes and Klepp each have a game in hand.  They will play their postponed round-9 match in a month.

The visitors dominated the first half and already after eight minutes they were ahead when Elida Knudsen scored.  They remained the strongest even though Røa had their chances.  But as often happens Røa came back strongly in the second half.  The equaliser came in the 57th minute when Inger Katrine Bjerke, home on holiday from her studies in the USA, sent the ball in a high arc from outside the box just over Sandviken keeper Ashley Thompson.

That created hope for the home crowd but it took a late penalty for the win to come.  In the 81st minute Ada Finskud was brought down by Isabell Gjerde and the referee gave a penalty.  Skipper Gunhild Kvaalen Herregården made no mistake in putting the ball securely in the right-hand corner.  It made Herregården the season's top scorer so far, with three goals.

The score of 2-1 lasted until the end and Røa are still unbeaten at home this year, with three wins and two draws.  They are still the only team to score against LSK Kvinner.  Next Sunday they are away at Avaldsnes.

146 spectators found their way to Ullern, where Røa will play home matches until September 20 when they hope to return to a brand-new artificial surface at the Røabane.

Røa gave up the chances today but when teams play Avaldsnes that's going to be the standard.  Despite the outcome I liked their look and how they played.  They have Herregården and Gardsjord in front of Vesterbekkmo which is all super quality.  I like the Jensen's, Vilde Hasund is a future star and Marita Iversen can handle herself.  They're all young and will only get better.  Add in Kristine Leine and a healthy Eline Johansen and it's a good future.

They midfield were impressive and moved the ball well through the pitch all game but when the strikers got gassed late and they tried to switch it up and generate the equalizer they couldn't get anything going on either side.

Some fun drama in the Cup game this week:

"Not only is it a local derby, but it will also be a battle between brothers Nordby. Geir Nordby's brother Sverre is head coach of Øvrevoll/Hosle."
