VfL Wolfsburg
« on: May 08, 2014, 03:58:56 PM »
Reinforcement from Oslo: Norwegian international player Caroline Graham Hansen has signed for VfL Wolfsburg.  The next new player for the Bundesliga-Frauen-Team is in place.  Caroline Graham Hansen is an attacking player with the Norwegian top-league team Stabæk FK.  The 19-year-old plays in Norway's A-team and has signed a two-year contract with Wolfsburg up to 30 June 2016.

"We have watched Caroline very closely for a long time.  She is technically gifted and can play anywhere in the attack at an international level", said the club's chief trainer and sports leader Ralf Kellermann.

Hansen debuted at the age of 15½ in the Norwegian elite league.  In three years she has played 71 league matches for Stabæk and scored 32 goals.  In international football she was in the team that lost to Germany in the Final of the 2011 Under-19 European Cup, and she was also in the Norwegian team that lost to Germany in the Final of last year's European Cup.

Among Wolfsburg's squad are names like Luisa Wensing, Nilla Fischer, Verena Faißt, Zsanett Jakabfi, Anna Blässe, Nadine Keßler, Lina Magull, Lena Goeßling, Alexandra Popp, Martina Müller and Conny Pohlers.

I'm not sure if she's cup-tied but as she wasn't on the team list submitted by March 12th she would be ineligible for the CL final.  I believe only goalkeeper unavailability can circumvent that process.

Also, considering she played for Tyresö, it would be a bit odd :)

Just checked and she started for Tyresö against PSG in their first matches before being given 20 minutes off the bench in the following games before she packed out.

OK . . she will complete the spring season before moving.   I don't know the situation now at Tyresö but a couple of months ago the club was said to be having financial problems.

New players at Wolfsburg
« Reply #3 on: July 25, 2014, 09:31:52 PM »
New players:
Caroline Graham Hansen (Norway), Vanessa Bernauer (Switzerland).

Hansen debuted for Wolfsburg on Saturday July 19 in a training match against SV Henstedt-Ulzburg, a level-3 team in Germany.  Not top opponents but Hansen scored a second-half hat-trick, in front of 300 spectators.

Coming in after half time she scored the 5-0 goal after two minutes, then 7-0 in the 62nd minute of the match and 8-0 in the 70th minute.

Not a bad debut in a reasonably easy match.

Wolfsburg v Freiburg 3-0 on Saturday
« Reply #5 on: August 31, 2014, 05:57:22 PM »
In the opening match of the new season Wolfsburg beat Freiburg 3-0.  Caroline Graham Hansen's goal at the end of the match was interesting for her careful sizing-up of the situation before she carefully placed her shot.  One can imagine the Freiburg keeper's view of it and she must have felt this was not an excited teenager having a pot-shot.  She would have sensed the cold eye of a predator on her, watching every muscle and waiting for the moment to strike.

Wolfsburg starters:
Almuth Schultz -
Luisa Wensing, Babett Peter, Nilla Fischer, Stephanie Bunte -
Lena Goeßling, Vanessa Bernauer -
Anna Blässe, Caroline Hansen, Verena Faißt-

Stabæk 0 VfL Wolfsburg 1
« Reply #10 on: October 11, 2014, 01:42:44 PM »
VfL Wolfsburg face a difficult return leg in the Champions League despite the 1-0 win in Oslo on Wednesday.  They kept the scoresheet clean and scored a vital away goal, but feelings are mixed after the narrow victory.

It was not easy for the team with the opponents lying back and defending, and we could not score second goal which could have given a little margin of comfort.  The next match is on Thursday October 16 with a 17.00 kickoff, and the match will be shown on Eurosport.

"In the first half we were not up to our usual standard, but after half time we were dominant.  We kept possession a lot but were able to score only once.  We need to do better in the return leg.  If Stabæk play as tightly ths time we will need more pace in ur game", said captain Nilla Fischer.

"I'm not completely satisfied and there was room for improvement.  We are not through yet after this narrow win, and in the next match we will have to be wide awake", said Caroline Graham Hansen.

"We did not move well enough at the start.  We should have scored more goals but we can be satisfied with the second half.  We deserved the win anyway", said Alexandra Popp.

Neulengbach-Wolfsburg 0-4 in Champions League
« Reply #14 on: November 09, 2014, 02:30:27 PM »
In a one-sided game in the Vienna Woods Stadium Wolfsburg won 4-0 with goals by Martina Müller (2), Caroline Hansen and Alexandra Popp, to give a good cushion of goals before the return leg next week at home.

After heavy rain the surface was unpredictable but the visitors applied pressure from the start, with Verena Faisst creating the first chance after seven minutes with a shot that whistled past one of the posts.  Wolfsburg laid seige to the hosts' penalty area and the lead came after 16 minutes when Müller took a cross from Babette Peter and volleyed it into goal.

Neulenbach then set up their defence with five across the back, and held their structure so that Wolfsburg were unable to score again before half time.  This continued in the second half until after ten minutes substitute Caroline Graham Hansen had a shot saved by keeper Isabella Kresche after a strong individual performance.  A little later Hansen succeeded with a shot that deflected off a defender.

On the heavy surface the Austrians started to tire, and in the 79th minute Müller combined with Lena Goessling to score her second goal.  In the 81st minute Alexandra Popp made it 4-0 after a free kick from Hansen and the stage was set for the return match on November 12 at 17.00, live on Eurosport (from 15.45 in the UK).

30-year-old Fischer came to Wolfsburg in the winter break last year from Linköping FC in Sweden.  She is a central defender who has played 116 international matches for Sweden.
