Japan's iron women, the world champions, won the Kirin Cup with a 4-1 win over Brazil on Thursday.  For the USA there was disappointment as well, leading up to the Olympics.

"My players fought like lions the whole time.  It is the team's trademark.  I can't say other than that the win tastes good because it's only 111 days to the Olympics and this is perhaps a sign that we will do well there as well", said Japan's trainer Norio Sasaki.

Japan won the Cup with a better goal difference than the USA after the two big favourites had played a 1-1 draw in the first match.  The Japanese had the margins with them on that occasion because Yuika Sugasawas scored a minute from the finish to earn the draw.

The Americans beat Brazil 3-0, but it was not enough to win the tournament.  Now the Olympic preparations begin for Japan, and trainer Sasaki thinks his team still has improvements to make, which could be bad news for the Americans.
