Watched the Birmingham v Arsenal game, yesterday. Quite surprised theres no comments on here so far.

A couple of obsevations, 1) Arsenal were dreadful and looked anything but a team that wanted to play football but more decided theyd play the cynical side of the game. Kelly smith was lucky not to have been red carded, aggression was all she had.

But:

All that is unfair on Birmingham who looked very organised, very fit and worked as hard as Ive ever seen any womens team work.  With a bit of control in their finishing the tie could well be beyond Arsenal by now.

The 2nd leg will be interesting.

Did anyone see Faye White's ghost that drove 2 or 3 aimless long balls to nowhere  ;D White also named by the Arsenal twitter as playing as well...

Arsenal 0 Birmingham 2

A fair result, Blues better as a team overall. Arsenal improved from the 1st leg but not enough to destabilise the well organised Blues team. We saw the difference between a team that played many games last season together and one where players need to learn to play together.

Tyreso FF awaits now, tough game.

I saw the first leg of Birmingham vs Arsenal and just got back from Birmingham vs Tyreso, and I have to say Birmingham are looking pretty good! Moore, Allen and Lawley in the midfield have the highest work ethic I've seen in a long time, and they didn't look tired for the whole 90 minutes. Young'uns Mannion and Carter in the back both look more than decent, and of course Carney looks excellent.

Could have a surprisingly good season after being written off by most already...

I thought they were decent. Still can get caught out from their press at times, although were on the back foot for some of the game and dropped a bit second half they possibly could've nicked a goal but overall didn't have the higher quality players needed in positions to kill the opposition off.

From seeing them play against Arsenal in the first leg their compactness has improved a lot, although reliant on Potter feeding Carney for the out-ball they look ok.

You can never write off a german team even at 2-0 down at half time - Tyreso had their chance but blew it
