Glasgow City Hit Five At Celtic

A 5-0 win at third-place Celtic kept Glasgow City three points clear at the top of the SWPL, while Hibs won at Spartans to stay in touch.  Jane Ross won a penalty for Glasgow City's opener midway through the first half, brought down by Lauren MacMillan and Leanne Ross converted. It was soon 2-0 as when a defense splitting pass from Eilish McSorley put Emma Fernon clear on the right her shot was turned by Gemma Fay onto the bar but Jo Love was on hand to sweep home the re-bound.

At the start of the second half, Jane Ross had a shot saved again by Fay, but Rachel Corsie coming in at the far post was able to fire home the loose ball. Jane Ross set up Jo Love to strike from the edge of the box for 4-0 and five minutes later it was 5-0, with a Jane Ross cutback finding Love who completed her first ever hat-trick for City.

Hibernian stayed in touch with a 3-1 victory at Spartans, Rebecca Dempster, Laura Kennedy and Caroline Weir their scorers, Diana Barry replying.

Hamilton missed the chance to go third when held 2-2 by visiting Rangers. Lynsey Hogg bagged two spot-kicks for Accies, a Lynsey Hogg own-goal and a Lana Clelland effort gave the Gers a share of the points.

Inverness moved up to seventh with a 3-0 win over basement side Kilmarnock, Leanne Calder, Sarah Main and Lisa MacKenzie finding the Killie net.

Hutchison Vale and Falkirk met without a point to their names and it was Vale who opened their account with a 5-0 win, Michelle Russell's hat-trick added to by Kat Smart and Laura Gavin.
