Karen honoured for all her work in football
« on: June 14, 2010, 12:29:40 PM »
KAREN Jones has received an MBE for services to women’s and girls’ football in Wales.

The 51-year-old from Llanedeyrn, Cardiff, pictured, won 20 caps for Wales and was founder of Cardiff City Ladies’ Football Club.

When she retired from playing she qualified as a coach.

She said: “I feel honoured and truly humbled to be nominated for this award.

“Football is still a huge part of my life, it’s a game I love and I have been blessed by working alongside the very best group of coaches and volunteers over the years.

“It’s their drive and support that has enabled me to carry out my duties both as an administrator and as a coach.

“It’s so rewarding to see the game growing and developing at a rapid pace.

“I would like to dedicate this honour to my parents who have supported me throughout my life, to the people who nominated me and to all the coaches and volunteers within Cardiff City LFC.”
