Oh no, it's England versus Germany in European Championship final
« on: September 10, 2009, 01:51:25 PM »
England will play Germany, their perennial nemesis, in the Euro 2009 final after the holders and six-times winners of the tournament came from behind to beat Norway 3-1 in the semi-final in Helsinki . The substitute Fatmire Bajramaj scored twice to clinch victory.

The Germans have won 16 and drawn two of their 18 games against England. But as Hope Powell's players prepare for the final, at Helsinki's Olympic Stadium on Thursday, they will be buoyed by the memory of their last competitive meeting, a goalless draw in the 2007 World Cup during which England had chances to win the game.

England's coach Hope Powell said: "Germany will be the clear favourites, but there have been some surprise results at this tournament and hopefully we can pull off another one. We haven't been at our best yet, in terms of our footballing ability, but we have been at our best for grit and resilience. If we can keep that going and produce our best football then we'll definitely be in with a chance."
