Japan have named their squad for the two-legged play-off against Mexico for one of the two remaining places at this year's World Cup. Some of these girls could soon become household names.  ;)

Japan's leading goal-scorer Homare Sawa will spearhead the national side in next month's FIFA Women's World Cup playoff against Mexico, the Japan Football Association said on Friday.

Sawa was among a 23-player squad announced for the crucial home-and-away matches on 10 March in Tokyo and 17 March in Mexico to decide which team will qualify for September's quadrennial event in China.

The squad was mainly formed from players which reached the Asian Games final in December, although Speranza FC goalkeeper Ayumi Kaihori was called up for the first time.
