Good lord. So, they'll be going from the Algarve straight into the La Manga camp then? That's a lot of national team training.

ETA: I'm an idiot.

The NFF put out a squad list for Norway's training session with several players listed under their old clubs.  They are sorry about this but have not been notified about the moves.

They should read http://womensfootball.eu/forum to find out what's happening . .

There is absolutely no excuse for the NFF to still list Asker as the club for players who were with the club last season and didn't transferred to another club.   ???

Here is a quote from an article that Alan posted nearly two months ago:

http://www.budstikka.no/sec_sport/sec_stabaek/article210923.ece

Askers fotballspillere får fortsette å spille i eliteserien under navnet Stabæk Fotball Kvinner. Det har lisensnemnda i Norges Fotballforbund bestemt.

Here is my version of the translation with a lot of the credit going to Alan for his initial effort:

Asker's football players will continue to play in "the top league" (Toppserien) under the name Stabæk Fotball Kvinner.  This was decided by the NFF's licensing committee/board.

The question I have is exactly how long should it take after the NFF's licensing committee/board makes a decision before the NFF itself gets officially notified?  ???

Perhaps the La Manga information could be moved into a new "Toppserien 2009 Fixtures and Results" thread?

Despite five Røa players leaving the national team last year, there are still five Røa players in the squad . .

 ;D

I love every minute of it, but on the flip side, it doesn make me wonder if the Toppserien league is a bit too heavy at the top. With 10 players at NT level in Røa and 8 1/2 (Kristy Moore being the half one) at Stabæk, That leaves precious little for the other teams.

Were the goal scorers for Røa in the KIL match released today? I saw the Kolbotn scorers, but not the Røa ones.

National team chief Bjarne Berntsen has selected two more players for the training session and friendly matches in Spain.

Elise Thorsnes and Isabell Herlovsen have had to pull out of the meeting because of injuries.  Their replacements are Ingvild Isaksen of Kolbotn and Nasra Abdullah of Team Strømmen.

Yes, I noticed that one as well. It will be interesting to see Abdullah in action. Not sure about Isaksen, though, although I know I'm in the minority.

I'm sure Bjerntsen watched Isaksen's games in Chile, where she was one of the top performers in a team that was up against Brazil and N. Korea in their group.  Also in the U-19 Euros.

Beat the Swedes in training session
28.1.2009

Norway women's national team beat Sweden 1-0 in an unofficial training match Wednesday afternoon.

The Norwegian women's team is currently at a training camp at La Manga in Spain. Wednesday afternoon they beat the Swedish national team 1-0 in an unofficial training match at 3x30 minutes.

The Norwegian girls controlled most of the match, and it was well deserved whenLeni Larsen Kauri(n) scored 1-0 five minutes into the second half [or third?]. Just before the final whistle Sweden were awarded a penalty, but keeper Caroline Knutsen saved the shot.

The two teams meat for a new and official match Saturday at three o'clock.

Leni! Nice to hear that.

(Although I've heard some mutterings that Dennerby took a very young squad this time around.)

Yes, and the sun was in their eyes, and the wind was blowing against them, and they didn't hear the refereee's whistle.

In all fairness, our NT is fairly reduced if we consider the Røa 5, Lise Klaveness, Elise Thorsnes and Isabell Herlovsen not being there. The latter two are at least playing under normal circumstances.
