The FAW Women's Challenge Cup
« on: November 16, 2008, 03:10:38 PM »
Today marks the second round of this tournament, which has 9 matches in the South section, and 7 in the North/Mid section.

Round 1 comprised of just one game in each section, the winners of each going through, and Pennar Robins FC in the South did it in style, winning 20-0 !!

My local teams both figure - Llandudno Junction FC visiting Welshpool Town FC, and Colwyn Bay FC hosting Llanrhaeadr Ladies FC.

If Ron managed to find where the latter game would be played, there should be some photos later  ;)
The pic is Tytti Porkka of Finland - I actually took it myself, but have lost all my pics and have no more :(

Those scores are quite common in England .....for example Chelsea won 32-0 yesterday against Meadow Sports in the Surrey Cup.

A goal every 3 minutes, poor goalie.

its not a good impression of womens football to have scores like that...credibility goes out the window.

They should give a few bye to Chelsea instead of having them to play in the first round of their county cup.
The London FA has Arsenal to play from the quarters only, it makes more sense.

You might notice that Cardiff City ladies feature in the second round of this cup (ie the one after they rounded the teams to 32), and they were in the top flight last season!

They could have started this tournament with 34 teams and 30 byes.

If you think that sounds stupid, the English FA Cup did that sort of thing in the early days  ???

I was thinking of going to Blackburn v Arsenal - but they reckon weather is not going to be good (-2deg - so prob off with frozen pitch)  :(

I don't fancy the roads to Tregaron - it's been bad even in Colwyn Heights I believe  :D

Best of luck anyway ;)
Not that you should need it - they lost 12-0 a couple of weeks ago  :D

And - how is Sarah getting on?
