ASSE-Lyon 0-6
« Reply #121 on: December 03, 2014, 05:12:21 PM »
Lyon easily won the local derby on Wednesday afternoon against St Etienne in the postponed 9th-round match.

On a muddy and lumpy rugby field Lyon established their local superiority in the first encounter of this season with their hosts.  Amandine Henry's initial strikes were repulsed, but damage was inflicted by Lara Dickenmann with two goals in the first half.

Soon after half time, Eugénie Le Sommer scored the visitors' third goal with a spectacular overhead scissors strike, and she scored a second in the 74th minute.  Three minutes from the end Lotta Schelin took part in the celebrations by scoring the fifth goal for Lyon.  At the very end of stoppage time, Le Sommer scored again for a hat-trick, her 14th league goal this season.

In the 60th minute Camille Abily made her big comeback after more than five weeks away.  Meline Gérard stood in goal for Lyon against her old club.  Olympique Lyonnais now awaits a visit from newly promoted Metz on Sunday, a team no doubt looking to improve on the 0-15 drubbing handed out to them at home in September.

St Etienne - Olympique Lyonnais 0-6 (0-2), Round 9, 03-12-2014

Montpellier-Lyon today
« Reply #123 on: December 14, 2014, 09:20:02 AM »
Olympique Lyonnais are in place on the south coast and face Montpellier at 14.30 on Sunday in round 13.  OL stands with maximum points from the first 12 rounds with 79 goals, which is about double PSG's total.  Before the holiday OL still have to face two opponents, Montpellier today and Juvisy next Saturday.

Montpellier has few hopes in this championship.  In the home match, OL beat them 4-0 at Gerland, with goals by Hegerberg, Bussaglia, Abily and Le Sommer.  Lyon's attack has achieved an average of eight goals per game over the last four games, and the top trio are rampant: Hegerberg 19 goals, Schelin 17 and Le Sommer 16.

OL squad:
Keepers: Bouhaddi, Gerard
Defenders: Renard, Kumagai, Petit
Midfield: Henry, Necib, Bussaglia, Traore, Abily, Dickenmann, Majri, Pingeon
Forwards: Schelin, Hegerberg, Le Sommer.

Round 16 on Sunday

Olympique Lyonnais v ASPTT Albi, kickoff 14.30.

Albi is the present club of Stephanie Roche, winner of FIFA's second-best goal of 2014.  At home in October Albi lost 0-4 to Lyon, one of the less-bad defeats handed out by the league leaders.

The battle of the titans ended in a decisive win for the visitors on Saturday night, in a match that put a large part of France's national team on show, with substantial parts of Sweden's and Germany's teams and with individual appearances from the Japanese, Swiss, Polish and Norwegian national teams.  OL are still a point behind PSG with a game in hand, and none of the other teams has been able to inflict any damage on either of these two top teams all season.

PSG were beaten at 0-4 and that included the bench.  The goings-on at the change of keepers told a story: no-one on the bench seemed to notice the keeper struggling with a knee injury and when she arrived back at the bench Benameur was still looking in her bag to find her shinpads.  The trainer was strolling around with hands in pockets, ignored both keepers, and the players were left to their own devices.  A lack of engagement at a difficult time.

OL through to the Cup semis
« Reply #139 on: March 01, 2015, 09:09:16 PM »
Guingamp eliminated PSG in the last round, on penalties, but on Saturday evening penalties were not needed after OL's 6-0 win.  OL is guaranteed an opponent from division-2 in the semis, but which team it is is not yet clear.

Olympique Lyonnais faced the young Guingamp team at home at 20.30 on Saturday, and the scoring was opened by Amandine Henry in the 39th minute.

OL came out after half time with Bussaglia replaced by Le Sommer and the guests were pressed back.  The Brittany team cracked under the pressure and the breakthrough came from Lara Dickenmann in the 62nd minute with the 2-0 goal, followed by Eugénie Le Sommer eight minutes later.  Ada Hegeberg produced a double effort, goals with only seconds between them.  Finally young Mylaine Tarrieu joined the party with her first goal as a professional.

In the semifinals OL will meet a team from the lower D2 division, Vendeheim or Rouen, in two weeks.  It appears that 13 squad members will be away on international
duties at the Algarve Cup.

Olympique Lyonnais 6 EAG Guingamp 0 (1-0), Cup quarter final, Stade de Gerland, 28-02-2015
Goals: Amandine Henry 39; Lara Dickenmann 62; Eugénie Le Sommer 73; Ada Hegerberg 82, 83; Mylaine Tarrieu 85.
