Norwegian players joining OL
« Reply #42 on: November 01, 2009, 01:13:39 PM »
Olympique Lyonnais have set out their stall ahead of their UEFA Women's Champions League round of 16 tie with Fortuna Hjørring by signing Norwegian internationals Christine Nilsen and Isabell Hervolsen from Kolbotn IL.

Goalkeeping vacancy
Goalkeeper Nilsen, 27, arrives at a club where compatriot Bente Nordby finished her career this summer, while current No1 Sarah Bouhaddi is injured. Herlovsen, 21, was a key part of the Norway side which reached the UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™ semi-finals, having also been in the squad that finished runners-up four years earlier, just like new club-mate Ingvild Stensland.

Last 16
Kolbotn, who will finish third in Norway this season, did not play in this season's UEFA Women's Champions League and Lyon will apply to register the duo in time for their tie against Danish champions Fortuna on 5 and 12 November, the second leg at Stade de Gerland. Lyon lead the French league with a perfect four wins and 20 unanswered goals.

Farid Benstiti's Olympique Lyonnaise team came up against the solid Danes of Fortuna Hjørring in the round of 16 in the UEFA Women's Champions League last night.

On a good but cold pitch in North Denmark OL's women met opponents of high quality.  There were shots from Schelin (39) and Katia (86), some saves and blocked crosses (Christiensen for Fortuna 3, 61).  Happily for OL, Elodie Thomis opened the scoring after a quarter of an hour, allowing the French team to relax a little about the return match next week.

The manager was pleased with the performance.  "We met a good European team, a very physical one which we noticed on several occasions.  I am very happy with our defence, the four of them stood up to the attacks well.  We should clinch it next Thursday", said Farid Benstiti.

Return match: November 12, 18.00.  Direct on OLTV from 17.45

Olympique Lyonnaise:
Nilsen -
Dusang, Renard, Georges, Simone -
Schelin, Nécib, Cruz Trana -
Thomis (Katia 82), Franco, Herlovsen (Dickenmann 68),
Substitutes: Pons, Brétigny, Katia, Kaci, Ducher, Dickenmann, Henry

Olympique Lyonnaise 6 Juvisy 1
« Reply #47 on: November 09, 2009, 09:02:38 AM »
Olympique Lyonnaise's women inflicted a severe defeat on one of their main competitors for the league title on Sunday at home at Gerland Stadium.  Lotta Schelin and Katia both scored hat-tricks.

The scoring opened after only six minutes with a goal by Schelin from a pass by Katia.  OL's two strikers were the main architects of the victory with some wonderful volleying by the Brazilian.

With this success OL keep their lead on goal difference over Paris St. Germain who had a 5-0 win over La Roche.  Farid Benstiti's crew will be back at the Gerland Stadium on Tuesday at 18.00 to meet our Danish visitors Fortuna Hjørring for the return match in the round of 16 in the Champions League.

Olympique Lyonnaise:
Christine Colombo Nilsen -
Sandrine Dusang (c.) (Coralie Ducher 56), Wendie Renard, Laura Georges, Corine Franco -
Shirley Cruz Trana, Lara Dickenmann, Aurélie Kaci, Louisa Nécib (Isabell Herlovsen 68) -
Lotta Schelin (Sandrine Brétigny 56), Katia.

Jesus. Poor Dusang. It seems like she was finally fit from her last injury.
If the only prayer you say in your whole life is thank you, that would suffice.

Training camp in Spain

Farid Benstiti ‘s players are leaving this morning for South-east of Spain, where  they will prepare the second part of the season for 4 days.

10 days from the restart of the French league ,  the OL women team is ramping up their pre-season. In 2010, the fenottes will try to defend their League title, to win again the Challenge de France ( the women’s French Cup)  and  for the first time  to conquer  the Champions’ League. In order to reach those targets, the OL managers have decided to leave behind the heavy cold in France and move to south east of Spain, in La Manga a few kilometres away from Murcia.

After a full day of travelling today, the OL women will start their pre-season with a friendly against China’s NT on Thursday at 1200, before having another agme against Valencia or Murcia before the end of the stay. Chian is playing a tourney this week at La Manga against Norway and England. The Norwegian players of OL( Nilsen Stensland and Herlovsen ) are therefore not in the squad :

Goalkeepers : Pons, Peyraud-Magnin.
Defenders  : Georges, Renard, Franco, Ducher, Ribeck, Akherraze, Berthet.
Midfield: Cruz, Dickenmann, Kaci, Dahou, Miraoui.
Forwards : Schelin, Thomis, Katia, Brétigny.
Not available : Dusang, Bouhaddi, Henry, Simone (injury) ; Nécib (School exams) ; Nilsen, Stensland, Herlovsen (away with NT).

Olympique Lyonnaise lose to Fortuna Hjørring in committee
« Reply #53 on: January 16, 2010, 02:40:31 PM »
The Commission of Disciplinary Appeal of UEFA reversed the decision taken by the Discipline Audit Board of UEFA on November 13 2009, highlighting the disparity between arrangements made by the FFF and those of FIFA.  The Commission established that the Olympique Lyonnaise players Isabell Herlovsen and Christine Colombo Nilsen, while qualified to play by the FFF, were not qualified at European level.

The Committee decided that Olympique Lyonnaise lost the match and awarded a score of 3-0 to Fortuna Hjørring in the Round of 16 in the European Champions League match, reversing Olympique Lyonnaise's 5-0 win on the field of play.  This means that Olympique Lyonnaise lose the tie if the decision stands.

The decision should be notified within 30 days and Olympique Lyonnaise is now studying the methods of recourse to the Arbitration Court of Sport, arguing that its responsibilities are confined to following FFF regulations.

Olympique Lyonnaise regrets this situation resulting from a lack of precision in the text of the regulations.

Swedish defender Amelie Rybeck is expected to sign for Olympique Lyonnaise to shore the club's defence up.  The club has been looking for new defenders since the start of the season, and Sandrine Dusang's injury has compounded the problem.

Rybeck listened to the advice of former teammates Lotta Schelin and Ingvild Stensland at Kopparberg-Gothenburg.  "Lotta and Ingvild gave me a good impression of the club.  I know the men's team is very good, with Kim Källström, but they also have an excellent women's team.  I am very happy to join them".

Rybeck's club finished in 4th place in the Damallsvenskan league last season.
