Yes, that was the article... but I didn't know that it had already been linked here.

Thanks for linking the French interview...
Pretty nice - but it would have been interesting to read a little more about a possible conflict with Lyon and how she thinks the situation can be solved.

There is a very long interview she made at thwe beginning of the month explaining her choice, I am in the process of translating it. If you can read French it is there :

I finished translating the interview, it is in the players section  ;)

Challenge de France last 32 :

Le Puy ( DH ) - OL (D1) 0-13

Goals : Stensland (2e), Georges (31e), Schelin (47e), Franco (51e), Thomis (59e, 84e, 86e et 89e), Brétigny (63e), Katia (65e, 76e et 87e) et Cruz (80e).

OL : Nordby - Franco, Georges, Renard, Dalum - Faye-Chellali, Henry (Brétigny, 46e), Stensland - Thomis, Katia, Schelin (Cruz, 72e).

The important news here is the return on the pitch of Amandine Henry. The poor girl has been out for nearly two years and according to what I have been told, she is the most complete player we have from her generation and is paramount to France's success at international level next summer and in the cmoming years.

There is a communication on the OL website on the 3rd of march :

They have asked help from the FFF who said they will not deliver the ITC, who does not need to anyway as per annexe 3 part 4 of the regulations on the status and transfer of players. And they are going to court against the two girls and the two WPS teams.

FCR 2001 Duisburg 1 Olympique Lyonnaise 1
« Reply #25 on: March 29, 2009, 01:03:09 PM »
The UEFA Womens Cup semifinal ended in a 1-1 draw.

According to the Duisburg web site the Olympique Lyonnaise goal came from a sensational free kick in the 24th minute by Norwegian national team player Ingvild Stensland.

OL have a tactical advantage in the tie through having an away goal which will count extra if the aggregate scores end equal.

Congratulations to Olympique Lyonnais on winning another league championship.

I was just looking at the French league standings and was wondering if the first tiebreaker is head-to-head competition instead of goal differential?

The answer is in the article :

http://www.footofeminin.fr/D1-Conde-revient-a-2-longueurs-de-Soyaux_a817.html

En cas d'égalité, Soyaux devant Condé aux confrontations directes.

Head to head is the decider.

The answer is in the article :

That is of course IF you happen to understand French.  ;)

Merci shlj!  If the first tiebreaker had instead been goal differential, I guess OL would not have officially won the league championship until Sunday's victory over Soyaux.

Olympique Lyonnaise take the league title
« Reply #31 on: June 12, 2009, 06:49:01 PM »
With 21 victories and one draw from their 22 league games, Farid Benstiti's Olympique Lyonnaise took the 2008-09 French league title with a historic 86 points, beating their previous record by 2 points.  OL went through the season undefeated and were the leaders in both home and away games, with a total of 114 goals for and 11 against.

With 27 goals the Brazilian attacker Katia is the leading scorer in the French league.  Sandrine Brétigny, top scorer in 2003 and 2007, was the runner up with her 22 goals thanks to a double hat-trick against Saint-Brieuc.  Sweden's Lotta Schelin scored 17 times in 15 games, while Elodie Thomis and Louisa Nécib had 12 and 10 goals respectively.  Sonia Bompastor scored nine goals despite leaving for Washington part-way through the season.

Louisa Nécib was voted the championship's best player.  In this she succeeds former holders Sonia Bompastor and Camille Abily, both former Lyon players, and Lotta Schelin was also a nominee.

The Olympique Lyonnaise women also took the Fair Play Prize with only nine yellow cards: three for Sandrine Brétigny and one each for Alix Faye-Chellali, Laura Georges, Louisa Nécib, Wendie Fox, Katia and Elodie Thomis

OL's 114 goals for the season beats next-in-line Montpellier with their 60.

26 players were used by Farid Benstiti in the championship.  Laura Georges with 1742 minutes was the busiest, while Shirley Cruz had 1702 minutes, Dorte Dalum Jensen 1555, Wendie Fox 1493, Bente Nordby and Corine Free 1426, Louisa Nécib 1386 and Katia 1362 minutes' play.

« Reply #36 on: August 26, 2009, 10:10:37 AM »
OL has nine players in the current European Cup competition in Finland, playing for three countries: France, Norway and Sweden.

The competition kicked off on Sunday with the Ukraine-Netherlands match.  On Monday the attention in Lyon switched to the first match in Group B when in Tampere the Norwegian skipper Ingvild Stensland faced Germany with her team.

Later Bruno Bini's France were on the field against Iceland with seven OL players on board:  Sarah Bouahddi, Laura Georges, Corine Franco, Amandine Henry, Louisa Nécib, Elodie Thomis and Sandrine Brétigny.

Finally on Tuesday OL's last player to go into action, Lotta Schelin, took to the field with Sweden's team against Russia when they confirmed their status as one of the favourites for the competition.

Olympique Lyonnaise timetable for group games:

August 24:
Germany - Norway
Iceland - France

August 25:
Sweden - Russia

August 27:
France - Germany
Iceland - Norway

August 28:
Italy - Sweden

August 30:
Norway - France

He is a very nice guy and I remember having a short tactical debrief with him after the France England game that was very interesting. I wonder if Hope Powell is as nice with the England supporter's and let them query her tactical choices  ;)

Bouhaddi 6 months injured.
I'm normaly have some symphaty for some girls of the Lyon squad
Bud Bouhaddi got exactly what she deserved.
Not only for what she did to Hanna
bud the way she played and plays she could have injured a lot more players
