U.S. women announce three post-Olympic matches

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - The United States women's national team, which is currently in the semifinals of the Olympics, added to its busy season Friday by adding three games against Ireland in September.

The United States, which has already played 26 games this year, plays Japan in the Olympic semifinals on Monday. The Americans will play one more game in the Olympics, either the gold medal or bronze medal match on Thursday.

Once the U.S., ranked No. 1 in the world by FIFA, returns from the Summer Games in China it opens its series against Ireland on Sept. 13 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia at 8 p.m. (ET).

The series continues on Sept. 17 at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. at 7:30 p.m. (ET) and wraps up at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Ill., on Sept. 30 at 8 p.m. (ET).

The United States and Ireland have met five times in a series dating back to 1999, with the United States collecting an unblemished 5-0-0 record. The teams last faced off on July 23, 2006, in San Diego. The U.S. won 5-0.
