Desperately seeking women footballers
« on: February 08, 2007, 10:30:27 PM »
THE East Coast Ladies Poacher football team is appealing for more members.
There are only eight women left in the team which began two years ago with a squad of more than 20.
Team member Gayle Howitt said: "We started last season with 20 players and couldn't even play half of them, but because of people going away to university and college we have lost half the team.
"We have been told by our coach that he won't take the team on unless there are at least 14 people."
The team is open to women aged 16 and above and training sessions take place on the astroturf at Skegness Grammar School every Friday at 6.30pm.
They play as part of the Mid-Lincs League which contains about eight teams and plays as far as Scunthorpe.
If you are interested in playing, next season in particular, contact Gayle, tel 07957 722595, or turn up to a training session.
