Women's football: We can be City slickers again
« on: February 08, 2007, 10:28:59 PM »
GLASGOW GREEN will host the tie of the round when holders Glasgow City face beaten finalists Aberdeen in the second round of the Amicus Scottish Cup on Sunday.

It is relatively unusual for two Premier sides to be drawn together at this early stage, but it is even more bizarre that the third round draw will be minus one of last year's finalists.

Ironically, the sides met at Glasgow Green only last week in a league match.

That encounter ended in a resounding 6-0 win for City and manager Peter Caulfield is hoping for more of the same this time round.

He said: "Last Sunday we put in one of our most impressive performances of the season.

"Aberdeen are a talented side and I was absolutely delighted with the commitment and effort from my players.

"This weekend is an entirely different affair. It is a one-off match and both of us are determined to make it all the way to the final again this year.

"It is one of the best occasions in Scottish women's football and we will be doing our best to make sure we are in the draw for the next round come the final whistle."

Second round ties - Raith Rovers v Paisley Saints, Glasgow City v Aberdeen, Cowdenbeath v FC Kilmarnock Ladies, Newburgh v FC Kilmar-nock Girls, Hamilton Accies LFC v Buchan LFC, Forfar Farmington Ladies v St Johnstone, Lochee United v Forfar Farmington Lassies, Stonehaven v Edinburgh Ladies, Dundee City v Dumfries, Inverness Ladies v Murieston, Hibernian LFC v Bishopbriggs, Dunfermline LFC v Tynecastle, Aberdeen University v Team Strathclyde, Queen's Park v Paisley City, Falkirk v Arsenal North, Hutchison Vale v Arsenal North B.
