Loisel out
« on: March 20, 2008, 12:41:27 PM »
France's Elizabeth Loisel had only five months as the chief trainer of the Chinese women's football team.  On Thursday she got the sack.

Loisel led the team through a highly turbulent period.  Ever since she started there have been problems, and after the 44-year-old was dismissed several Chinese media have written that her departure will put an end to the darkest period in Chinese football.

China's women reached the quarter finals of the World Cup on their home pitches, but recently disappointed at the Algarve Cup in Portugal with ninth place.  Loisel went home to France for a holiday after the tournament, but has now had the message that it will not be necessary for her to return to China.  She will receive $113,000 as a termination payment after the five months she has been in the job.

Loisel took over as the chief of China's women footballers after the Swede Marika Domanski-Lyfors.  Now many think that the Chinese are finished with foreign trainers for the team.  Several media have written that the Chinese FA should settle on a Chinese trainer for the run-up to the Olympics on home territory in August.

No surprise there, she did not manage to adapt to local customs, she had to go.
