England hope to profit from run
Thursday 11 October 2007-

England are looking to capitalise on the extra interest gained from their run to the quarter-finals in last month's FIFA Women's World Cup when they resume their 2009 UEFA European Women's Championship campaign with two home games.

Opening victory

The first of those will be played in Walsall against Belarus on 27 October, before attention switches to Shrewsbury Town FC's 9,875-capacity New Stadium on 25 November, when Spain are the visitors for the venue's inaugural international. England coach Hope Powell said: "It's great that we have two home games so quickly. For those fans who supported us during the World Cup and tuned into our games on television, this is an opportunity to see the likes of Kelly Smith, Faye White and Katie Chapman in the flesh, maybe for the first time." England beat Northern Ireland 4-0 at home in the first Group 1 qualifier before departing for China.
