Girls want support in Glasgow
« on: January 18, 2007, 01:29:35 PM »
SHETLAND'S female football squad will play Team Strathclyde in the Amicus Scottish Cup, in Glasgow on Saturday 20 January.

Captain Brenda Leask will lead the Shetland team onto the Strathclyde University playing fields at 2pm.

The islanders go into this game as favourites following two previous wins against Team Strathclyde last year.

If they win this match they will go into the cup's second round which begins on 10 February.

Coach Derrick Bradley has been training the team hard since Christmas. A programme of track sessions focusing on improving the squad's fitness combined with a couple of matches against the Delting boy's teams have been completed.

A club spokeswoman thanked the Delting under 16s and their manager for coming out to play despite poor weather conditions.

Chairwoman Fiona Dally said: "I wish the squad every success with their away match and would like to thank coach Derrick Bradley for his continued commitment to the Shetland women's squad."

All spectators are encouraged to come along and support the Shetland team.
