The award, from the Football Foundation, will be used to provide coaching sessions to girls aged 5-15 at the new Princes Park complex.

The money will also allow players to attend FA coaching courses over the next three years.

Catherine Fitzpatrick, of the club said: “It is so important that we keep girls and young women involved in football.

“We cater for every ability, and this is vital if we are looking to improve and support the development of Dartford Ladies Football Club.”

Paul Thorogood, of the Football Foundation, said: “Women’s football is the fastest growing sport in the country.

“I am delighted that this grant will open up access to the game for more youngsters, especially girls, so that they can enjoy the benefits of playing game and stay fit.
