Vic returned to the UK today from Arsenal's training camp in Austria.  I expect any new signings to be announced over the next few days. I assume the team photos will be taking place on the 5th August, which is the day Arsenal FC have members day at the Emirates.

Rochdale Ladies AFC have today completed the summer signing of 19 year old striker Keeleigh Savage from Everton.

Savage, who is no stranger to the FA Premier League Northern Division, made her senior debut at Manchester City in the 2006/7 season.

Rochdale Ladies AFC 1st team coach Steve Walmsley, who gave Savage her debut at Manchester City, said "We are delighted to be re-united with Keeleigh, as me and the Gaffer (Phil Pearson) have known her since her junior days, at which she has represented both (Rochdale & Man City).

"This is a great signing for the club and a great move for Keeleigh, as we all know what she is capable of achieving with her natural instinct for goal, and more importantly, we really believe that this move will give her a platform to fufill her ambitions.

"We all realise at Rochdale that this is a fantastic division to be in, as we will face an excellent quality of opposition week in, week out. We also feel that we can rise to the challenge with the fantastic set off players that we already have on board, and more importantly we are always looking to attract more quality players that will take us on to that new level.."

Rochdale AFC Ladies are wasting no time in their preparations for life in the Premier League, adding Natalie Brewer from Blackburn Rovers.

Brewer, a 26 year-old defender who has been virtually ever-present with Rovers over the last six years, brings a wealth of National Division knowledge and experience with her, that will add to Rochdale's quest in building a team that will compete with the very best.

Brewer explained the reason for the move: "I feel that Rochdale are an ambitous club with a good management structure in place, who are looking to bring in players with both quality and experience, to add to the strong squad that they currently have.

"I also want to be able to enjoy playing football and achieve things both as an individual and as part of a team, I believe that all these are possible whilst playing for Rochdale."

Manager Phil Pearson hailed the signing by adding; "Nat is without doubt an excellent coup for us, and she will add a fantastic level of National Premiership experience we need."

Tuesday 3 August

England Internationals Jess Clarke and Sophie Bradley have signed contracts with Lincoln Ladies FC to join the squad that will play in the inaugural Women’s FA Super League.

Clarke, a 21 year-old winger, capped a great performance by scoring with a far post header in England's 3-0 World Cup qualifying win over Turkey at Walsall last week. She is a product of Leeds’ youth system, with 17 full England caps and five international goals.

Sophie Bradley is an FA Centre graduate. The 20-year-old former Leeds Carnegie and Nottingham Forest central defender has captained England at U19 level and had a successful stint in the U23 team before joining the full England squad. The Leeds Carnegie captain was the mainstay of the best defence in last season’s Women's Premiership

Both will be joining Lincoln Ladies directly from Leeds Carnegie.

Lincoln Ladies manager Rod Wilson said: “We’re delighted to have secured these two valuable players – Jess is a very quick and tricky right winger who I have watched develop over the last six years and Sophie is an extremely dependable defender.

They represent the first of a number of important signings we’ll be making as we prepare for the March launch of the FA Super League.”

Well Watson, it hasn't been posted on here before and hasn't appeared on She kicks or the Everton site so it seemed fair enough to comment on it...wasn't at the Preston tournament, indeed I didn't even know there was one..Were they keeping it a secret?

Well as your weren't at the Preston Tournament, you won't know that Liverpool beat Manchester City 1-0 in the final, with a goal coming from Nicki Harding (ex-Blackburn)

Danielle Hill, played in goal and was joined in the team by Gemma Watson (Preston North End) and the Blackburn duo of Natalie Preston and Lynda Shepherd.

Manchester City were weakened by the non-availability of new signing Sarah Danby (Sunderland).

It's not just Leeds and Sunderland to lose players to Super League, Blackburn have lost the majority of the team that finished in mid-table, last season.  Blackburn have recruited Kim Turner, from Manchester City and re-signed Levi Penny (Nottingham Forest).

The 1st team squad is currently very small, so a few more signings are expected.....8 departures and 2 signings since the end of the season.

Arsenal Strengthen

With the launch of the new FA Women’s Super League next year the summer months have been a busy time for the 8 clubs to secure new players. Arsenal have already announced the signing of striker Ellen White from Leeds Carnegie and hope to make two further signings over the next week.

Arsenal Members day takes place tomorrow at Emirates Stadium where the Ladies squad will have their official photocall day alongside the men’s team.
