Just a week to go until the WPL and Division 1 seasons begin!

Here are the fixtures for Sun 20 Aug:

Chichester are about to enter the WPL Southern, but they made a game of it in their friendly last week against Watford, a team a division higher in WSL 2:

Wolverhampton Wanderers are about to enter the WPL Northern, and they played two friendlies in recent weeks. Reports here:

- Wolves v Birmingham & West Midlands: www.wolves.co.uk/news/women-and-girls/20170814-women-win-to-round-off-pre-season

MK Dons (in Division 1 South-East) visited King's Lynn Town in a friendly. This is Darren Gilham's first match report on Women's Football East since moving the blog over fully from Supporting Women's Football:

Birmingham's ridiculous 22-0 friendly win over West Brom (WPL Northern) wasn't the only weird score last weekend. A few cherry-picked scores from Sunday 13 Aug:

Exeter City 10-0 Alphington
Burscough Dynamo 13-2 Nelson
C&K Basildon 25-0 Haringey Borough
Ashford Town (Middx) 12-4 Hampstead
Durham 8-0 Middlesbrough
Hendy 0-17 Briton Ferry Llansawel Res
Ipswich Wanderers 7-3 Walsham le Willows
not to mention the intriguing names
Illogan RBL 3-2 Mousehole AFC :o

Sorry to hear about the passing of Mary Rudkin, who was a football ambassador as a player, coach and behind the scenes. She was also active in the development of blind football in Leicestershire. Tributes were paid by Leicester City Ladies this week.

Nottingham Forest Ladies will host Guiseley AFC on Sunday (3pm, Basford Utd NG6 0LD). On Saturday they'll be introduced on the pitch at Forest's men's match against Middlesbrough. Hopefully a sign of more co-operation within the club:

Season kickoff was yesterday in WPL Northern/Southern, and the Division 1 regions. Videos still to come, if any show up.

Free match at Elland Road Sunday 2pm, Leeds Utd v Chester Le Street.

It's Leeds Ladies' first match since reuniting with the club:

Chester-le-Street Town Ladies travelled to play Leeds Ladies at Elland Road. Leeds won 1 nil but it was a great experience for the Cestrians

Sounds like a good occasion - the most-viewed match of the weekend in level 3 or 4.

Thanks for posting the photos, NSmith, a fantastic record of the day.

You may want to post in this thread for future Chester-le-Street games – your links might be seen more, as the thread will stay visible on the homepage later. I'm finding it's usually best to have one main thread for each section. Especially for sections like this, which get few posts as it is.
