London Bees v Sheffield FC tonight at 7pm, and it's free :D

Preview and interviews here:

And, in order to gain a deep psychological understanding of the entire Sheffield squad, who better to ask than teammate Carla Ward?

According to our straw poll, there's a danger that this WSL2 Spring Series could become meaningful :o as WSL1 may promote a team to replace the defunct Notts County.

Currently it's very tight at the top - the top five are all in with a shout:

Durham (pld 6, 13 pts), Doncaster (pld 5, 11 pts), Millwall (pld 7, 11 pts), Villa (pld 6, 11 pts), and Everton (pld 5, 10 pts)

Due to fixture congestion, some teams have two games to go - others still have four matches left. Then again, the FA might just choose Everton because yay derbies

Watch this space.

The season is coming to a head in Women's Super League 2:

6 May
Everton v Brighton

This was a big game in the race for 1st place, which as we've discussed may or may not get someone promoted for a year and then demoted for no reason. And Everton won it:

Highlights from Culver Road, pretty eventful for a nil-nil:

In the table, Everton are one win from glorious Spring Series glory. (Edit) As Sylvain noticed about this pantomime, Oh No They Aren't! Durham's Behind You.

Match previews for this weekend. Everton's near-title party at Goodison is free entry, with donations welcomed for the anti-homelessness campaign Home Is Where the Heart Is.

Saturday 13 May
- Doncaster Belles v Aston Villa (3pm), Keepmoat Stadium

Sunday 14 May
- Everton v Watford (2pm), Goodison Park

Oh, it's "Champions Elect" now... no more fake news, but still invoking an American election :-[

Video still isn't available anywhere, but Everton are confirmed as WSL2 Spring champions after convincingly beating London Bees:

So, that's the end of WSL 2's spring mini-season, with Everton dedicating their title to Zoe Tynan. It looks like they're in with a great shout of being chosen for promotion to WSL 1 for the 2017/18 season. The last round of games from 21 May:

Villa have appointed Dave Stevens as their new head coach this week.

My question is... what happened to Joe Hunt? He became Villa Ladies' manager 5 years ago this week, it looked like things were going well. Then he's disappeared from Twitter since February, and the only announcement that he's left Villa is on LinkedIn...  ???

More club news for 2017/18 - Oxford are increasing their team budget:

However, it could turn sour if they don't get a top-six finish. The U's most recent placings have been 9th and 10th (last in the table).

Women's Football Show on BBC remains conspicuous for its overall lack of coverage of anything which is outside of WSL 1, Women's FA Cup, England internationals and Women's Champions League.

I think the programme where the coverage given to Everton winning WSL 2 Spring Series and the focus on clubs being able to apply to replace Notts County exceeded the sum of WSL 2, FAWPL etc for the Spring Series which amazingly, according to one of the commentators, only started 6 weeks ago, so those WSL 2 Spring Series games from February and March would appear to be figments of the imagination.
