Interesting article from She Kicks::

The deadline for County League teams applying to join a Regional League via the new promotion pool system is March 31st.

The promotion pool is a new concept in the Women’s Football Pyramid designed to give teams the chance to enter a Regional League without necessarily winning their County League or finishing as runner up.

Teams that have been in the County League for at least the current season can apply to join the League by submitting a Promotion Pool application form.

These applications will be reviewed by a Joint Liaison Committee made up of equal numbers of representatives from the County Leagues and Regional Leagues.

If vacancies exist in the League, the applications will be prioritised by the finishing position of the applying team at the end of the season, and other criteria as directed by The FA Women’s Committee. It is the general principle that the team who won the top division of a County League should receive an automatic place to be promoted, if they wish to accept promotion and meet any other requirements applicable at the time.

After considering the applications, the Joint Liaison Committee will make the recommendations to the Women’s Football Project Team, a Sub-Committee of The FA Women’s Committee, who will make the final decision.

A New Team Fact Sheet has been made available to help County Leagues clubs make up their own mind about whether they would like to play in the Regional Leagues next season.

Is this still the case - I have heard that in the West Midlands that a club currently top of the county league have been told there will be no vacancy in the regional league ?  Seems a bit unfair given it is supposed to be part of the pyramid.

As far as I am aware 31st March remains in force. Teams (non-champions) can also apply for promotion, but only those who finish in top three places of their highest County League Division will be considered. So, if four teams were involved in a tight race, the team which eventually finished 4th would have applied and might even have the best non-playing record credentials, but would miss out because they did not finish in top three (though I dare say "exceptional circumstances" may determine otherwise)

The West Midlands team in County League should approach their County FA or the FA for guidance etc
